Dr Vagner was recommended by my personal physician who is rated one of the Top Doctors in Austin.  I needed immediate surgery on both hands for severe carpal tunnel and Dr Vagner's office accommodated my scheduling needs with a next day appointment.  Within a week of first visiting Dr Vagner I had the surgery with only minor discomfort over a 24 hour period.  Within 9 days, the stitches were out and I have seen improvement from the nerve damage.   I am hopeful that within 6 to 9 months my full feeling will be restored.

His staff was always friendly.  He was either early for my appointment or right on time. View On Yelp

Dr Vagner, is a very kind and knowledgeable surgeon. my right wrist was badly injured during my service in the United States Marine Corps. While in the service I had two surgeries and they were completely ineffective. The VA refused to consider any treatment whatsoever. I went to see dr. Vagner, he did a few tests and determined that surgery was necessary. There  was a large amount of scar tissue in that area. After the surgery I was able to feel my index finger and thumb for the first time in 15 years. Due to stupidity on my part 3 weeks after surgery I acquired an infection in my hand. Within 4 hours of contacting came through the call service I was admitted to a local hospital and had surgery. My hand and wrist are strong something I thought I would never be able to say again. He is an amazing surgeon and a wonderful human being. I would like to also mention that all the members of The Practice are very professional, courteous and helpful. I would highly recommend Dr Vagner! View On Yelp

Dr. Vagner came very highly recommended to me by another physician. I was not disappointed! He's a great listener and very brilliant. He took time with me, and explained everything to me in layman's terms that I could understand. His staff was very friendly, efficient, and helpful.

We Recommend Surgery as a Last Resort

Orthopedic surgery can achieve life-changing results, but non-invasive treatments can sometimes be equally effective. Because of his commitment to conservative care, Dr. Vagner's first instinct is always to consider non-invasive methods before surgical methods. Some of the non-invasive techniques Dr. Vagner utilizes include:

Cortisone Injections

Cortisone is an anti-inflammatory medication that relieves pain. Orthopedic surgeons often inject cortisone into joints such as the knee, spine, or elbow. In Dr. Vagner's case, he utilizes cortisone to relieve pain around the elbow, wrist, and hand. Cortisone injections have the potential to relieve pain for several months.

Physical Therapy

In many cases, Dr. Vagner will recommend forms of physical therapy to relieve joint pain. These physical therapy exercises include simple stretching routines and revised, healthier approaches to lifting or gripping items.

Ice Packs or Heating Pads

Ice packs or heating pads can reduce inflammation and mitigate pain. Dr. Vagner provides his patients with proper icing and heating regimens for optimal results.

Medication

Over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication is an effective method of pain management, and Dr. Vagner can recommend the best type of drug and dosage.

Financial Information

Dr. Vagner accepts many, but not all, insurance plans for orthopedic surgery and non-invasive treatment at his practice locations in Austin and Cedar Park, TX. If you are unsure if your insurance plan can cover treatment with our surgeon, we recommend contacting our office or your insurance provider directly to understand your coverage before coming in for treatment.

For portions of the cost that may not be covered by your insurance, we can offer payment plans to qualifying patients.
